ARCES is pleased to announce the availability of five new technical and training manuals developed within the framework of the Black Sea SIERRA Project – Project 101124670, aimed at strengthening knowledge, preparedness and response capacities in addressing marine pollution, particularly in the context of armed conflicts and civil and military emergencies.
These valuable resources represent an important contribution to the project’s broader objective of enhancing cooperation, preparedness and resilience in the Black Sea region, providing practitioners, stakeholders and relevant authorities with practical methodologies, guidance and tools to support more effective responses to marine pollution incidents.
The five manuals cover key aspects of prevention, monitoring, assessment, remediation and sustainable management of marine pollution. These manuals are now available for consultation and download in PDF format:
- Training Curricula for Increased Response Capacity: A comprehensive training resource designed to strengthen the knowledge, skills and operational capacity of stakeholders involved in responding to marine pollution emergencies.
- Guide on Monitoring Marine Pollution Due to Armed Conflict: A practical guide focusing on the monitoring of marine pollution resulting from armed conflicts, supporting the identification, observation and assessment of pollution risks and impacts.
- Handbook on Marine Pollution Assessment Methodology and Sources: A methodological resource providing guidance on the assessment of marine pollution and on the identification and analysis of its different sources.
- Guide for Specific Remedial Measures for Armed Conflict Pollution: A dedicated guide addressing possible remedial measures and response strategies for pollution generated by armed conflicts, with a focus on supporting informed and effective intervention.
- Complementary Sustainable Management Plan of Response Strategies to Civil and Military Marine Pollution: A strategic document aimed at promoting sustainable and coordinated approaches to the management of response strategies addressing both civil and military marine pollution.
Together, these five publications constitute a valuable knowledge base for professionals, institutions and stakeholders working towards safer, more resilient and sustainably managed marine environments.
