On 30 June 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (CET), the online event “GreenComp in Practice for Rural Resilience” will bring together educators, trainers, and sustainability professionals to explore how sustainability competencies can support education, vocational training, and the resilience of rural communities.
The event is organised within the framework of WOVEN – Work Opportunities in Vulnerable ENvironments, a European project funded by the Erasmus+ KA220-VET programme.
Bringing GreenComp into Educational Practice
One of the key outcomes of the project has been the development of the “GreenComp in Practice” Handbook, a practical resource designed to support educators and trainers in integrating sustainability into teaching and learning processes.
Alongside the handbook, a Pedagogical Activities Toolkit has been created to help teachers address the 12 competencies outlined in GreenComp – the European Sustainability Competence Framework. These resources translate the framework into engaging and practical learning experiences that respond to the challenges of the green transition.
Testing and Validation in an International Context
The resources were tested and validated during the Teacher Training on GreenComp, held in May 2026 in Jérica-Viver, Spain.
The training brought together education professionals from Portugal and Spain, who explored innovative approaches to sustainability education, tested the project’s learning activities, and developed lesson plans aligned with GreenComp principles.
Feedback from participants highlighted the relevance, usability, and potential impact of the resources in real educational settings, confirming their value for supporting the development of sustainability competencies across different learning contexts.
Looking Ahead
The event will present the resources developed by the project, share insights from the validation phase, and feature testimonials from participants in the international training programme.
Participants will also learn about the next stages of the WOVEN project, including research into sustainability-related employment opportunities and the creation of a European network of professionals committed to the green transition and the sustainable development of rural areas.
Participation is free of charge and open to educators, trainers, education professionals, organisations, and anyone interested in sustainability, green skills, and rural development.
